Below are a list of answers to commonly asked questions. If you have a question that is not covered here please use the contact us form to ask us your question.

What should I wear?

Please wear sensible outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket or anorak, jodhpurs or similar.

Can I hire a hat?

Hard hats and chin straps must be worn at all times. Hats can be hired from the stables for 50p. If you wish to wear your own hat, it mustcomply with British Safety Standards PAS 015, EN1384, ASTM F1163.

What about footwear, do I need riding boots?

Riding boots or strong flat shoes with heel must be worn. Please ask about suitable sizes available to hire from the stables at 50p.

Can I come on holiday alone?

We welcome single riders, you will have the opportunity to meet others as our groups range in size from 2-6 riders.

Do you cater for vegetarians?

We cater for guests with all dietary requirements. Please inform us of your dietary requirements before your arrival.

What will I do on holiday?

We set your programme to suit you. You can ride up to 6 hours each day, with a mixture of tuition, and riding out in pleasant countryside. You may also spend a day riding out through Teesdale, over into Baldersdale round the reservoirs and back over Goldsborough. The programme for adults is created when you arrive and we see what you can do; and discover what you want to learn. From intensive daily tuition to easy going hacking out, your week is tailored to suit you.

I have no experience of riding. Is this a problem?

Definitely not. Many adults come as complete beginners and use the holiday to take up riding for the first time.

When do Holidays take place?

All year round, except for Christmas and New Year.

My partner would like to come but does not Ride?

Non riders are welcome. They can spend their days cycling, hill walking, playing golf on a choice of courses, or simply exploring the local landscape.

Can I bring my own horse?

Own horses are welcome. Stable and grazing included. This does not affect the pricing in any way.

Apart from the obvious, what should I pack?

Riding gear if you have any. If not, avoid denims for riding, and bring footwear with a heel. Trainers are unsuitable for riding. And please bring your own towels. Otherwise this is an inclusive package covering all riding, accommodation, meals and light refreshments.

What if my partner and our children want to come?

We have ample room for families. Children can be accommodated in twin, triple, or four bedded rooms.

When should I arrive - depart?

You should arrive after 2.00pm Sunday, and depart by noon, Saturday. This allows us time to change rooms around. We are highly flexible, so should this be a problem, give us a call to arrange different timings. Collections can be arranged from local train stations and airports. Car parking is ample and safe.
